About
Family Matters explores the joys and challenges of family life. We talk about supportive parenting paradigms, relationships and communication, and culture in the context of traditional and non-traditional families. Parents, children, and other guests share their personal stories and wisdom to inform and inspire us all to support our kids and ourselves.
Many of our guests are not polished speakers. When I interview guests, I ask them to talk about how they overcame challenges in their own family. I look for raw stories from real people. I’m especially looking for children’s voices. My hope is to share that we’re all human, living together, making mistakes, and learning all the time.
The first Sunday of every month, we do a call-in empathy support show for families. Call in and share your family concern or joy and be heard.

Wendy McDonnell helps parents create Family Relationships that they love! Wendy is a Master Family Communications Coach and Host of Family Matters Radio, on CFRU, Guelph, every Sunday morning. She shows people how to value everyone’s needs and work together, without giving up…and without giving in.
Wendy is trained in Psychology, Nonviolent Communication, Restorative Circles, Mediation, Collaborative Divorce, Grief and Bereavement, Reiki, and Teaching. She transformed her own childhood violence into peace and now homeschools with her four children and loving partner of 24 years. She knows that resilient relationships are built on the foundation of trust and truth.
All our needs matter. Believe it or not, conflict can make our relationships stronger rather than pull them apart.
Parents…
In a rut with your kids or your spouse? Saying things you’d never thought you’d say? Forgetting the last time you enjoyed your family?
With a whole lot of empathy, we clarify what’s important to us, discern our own needs from our children’s, and find strategies to support our values. Parents, you know you and your family best. I bet you know what’s not working for you and you’re wanting help to get from there to another place…a place where you’re working together towards common goals and where your relationships can weather ups and downs.
Hire me and find out.
